BookOutdoors
BookOutdoors
The Product
BookOutdoors: Book the best campgrounds, RV parks, cabins, and glamping resorts.
Overview:
BookOutdoors hired me to design and direct the 0-1 product (MVP). The product allows users to book campgrounds, RV parks, cabins and more with ease by partnering with campgrounds.
The best way to understand the product is to explore it yourself! In my role as UX and Product Lead, I crafted the experience and strategy behind this product in just three months. This effort has positioned BookOutdoors as a leader in the outdoor living space.
Given the startup's early stage, and being the sole designer on the team, I also played a significant role in shaping its branding. It's a nod back to my beginnings as a graphic designer at the age of 14. Pretty cool, right?
More about my role:
In my role as product and design lead, I collaborated closely with engineers, the CEO, and the VP of strategy to successfully launch the MVP. Here are some key highlights from the development process:
I deepened my front-end knowledge by working closely with engineering, gaining insights into the product's limitations.
Prioritizing mobile usability was paramount. Based on user research, we observed that a significant portion of our target audience primarily used similar platforms on mobile devices. So, we designed our product to provide a seamless native app-like experience.
Initially, manually onboarding partners presented challenges for our team. However, we quickly expanded our network of campgrounds state by state, starting with Colorado.
Witnessing the product come to life, seeing users effortlessly book campgrounds, and rapidly building out our offering were among the most fulfilling aspects of this project.
